SurveyPro – Easily create surveys with rich set of question types and formats in Moodle #Moodleplugins

Check out the not so popular but awesome Moodle plugin

Do you ever need to collect students feedback through surveys? It can be anything about the course material quality, teaching feedback etc. Moodle core comes with 3 different tools Choice, Feedback and Survey activities which can be used for gathering student’s data.

There are other popular Moodle plugins like Questionnaire which allows you to create a range of questions to get student feedback e.g. on a course or activities.

Introducing SurveyPro Moodle Plugin:

Apart from all these, there is another Moodle plugin – SurveyPro, which allows the creation of custom survey assembling fields and format elements. Surveypro module is developed to answer the more frequent requirements of end users. Like:

  • Conditional branching
  • Subset of questions available to teachers ONLY
  • Speed up form fill as much as it is possible
  • Force the user to provide a his/her own answer
  • possibility to add custom reports etc.

The SurveyPro Moodle plugin is developed by Danielle Cordella – French Moodle developer. The plugin is compatible with Moodle 3.1 and can be downloaded from the GitHub page here. There was a discussion in Moodle forums to include this plugin in Moodle core and replace the existing survey module. However, now it seems to be not on the cards atleast for Moodle 3.4 which is just on the verge of release.

SurveyPro comes with a set of 21 built-in elements as plugins. They include 17 fields and 4 formats. It also has the powerful templates and reporting system. Templates are divided into two subcategories: user-templates and master-templates. It also comes with pluggable reports so if you can’t find any report, you can simply create a sub-plugin for it.

Unfortunately, Surveypro plugin is not approved in the Moodle plugins database and is available through GitHub only. I hope that one day SurveyPro will be included in the Moodle core and replace the existing Survey module.

What is your opinion about the Surveypro plugin for Moodle? Have you ever used it on your Moodle? Do you think that it should be included in Moodle core? Do share your opinion with us in the comments below.
