Progress Update - Better Office Integrations project first prototype ready! Check it out here #MoodleRecently, the Better Office Integrations development work is almost finished and the first prototype for the same is made available for the testing on the Moodle prototype site. If you would like to test it out – head straight to https://prototype.moodle.net/office/ for testing. The detailed instructions for testing the prototype are mentioned in the Moodle Tracker issue.

Let’s put our contribution in testing out the prototype before the first release of Moodle 3.3 scheduled on 08th of May.

Significant Changes:

The core repositories Google Drive and Microsoft OneDrive are completely overhauled and now works with the new OAuth 2 services. According to Damyon – Core Developer from Moodle HQ:

The most significant feature is that there is a new file type that repositories can support which is a “controlled link”. It is a link to a file – but at the time it is added to Moodle – the original resource is copied into an account owned by the Moodle system. Moodle then grants read and (temporary) write access to the link when it is accessed – based on the permissions in Moodle.

I found it quite exciting with the ease of adding the files from Google Docs repository into the Moodle with the Controlled Link file type. How you found the prototype for the Better Office Integrations project? Share your experience with the prototype in the comments section below.
