Moodle Feature request – Display file license info in your Moodle course MDL-53025 #Moodle @indirakoneru

During the first MoodleMoot India 2016, Dr. Indira Koneru who delivered a great presentation about “Promoting Access to OER through Moodle”; had suggested to show up the File license information like Creative Commons license and Copyright License in Moodle course wherever its possible.

Martin Dougiamas has also agreed to the feature requested as Moodle is already collecting a lot of information about the file license but those are currently hidden in the database.

Display Creative Commons License & Copyright License information MDL-53025

The file license information can be displayed either:

  • in full text under the file
  • in a popup under a © icon
  • for images, as a watermark on the image

If you also supports displaying the license information along with the file details, then please vote for the Moodle Tracker issue MDL-53025.

For those who are unaware about Creative Commons License here is the intro from Wkipedia:

A Creative Commons (CC) license is one of several public copyright licenses that enable the free distribution of an otherwise copyrighted work. A CC license is used when an author wants to give people the right to share, use, and build upon a work that they have created.

The presentation delivered by Dr. Indira Koneru is also available online for download from this link along with other presentations from MoodleMoot India 2016.
