Online courses always includes embedded videos and other media files for better understanding and interaction among users about the subject. Online learning is not possible without embedding media files and sharing handouts within your course. Moodle also supports all types of media files embedded within the course page. But do you know the fastest way to add media files in your Moodle course?

The latest release of Moodle i.e. Moodle 3.3 includes a very handy but useful feature to allow the Drag and drop of media files directly on to the course page. In earlier Moodle versions only images are allowed to be dropped on to the course page. However, Moodle 3.3 allows the course teachers to simply drag and drop audio and video files.

How to add Media files by dragging and dropping in Moodle course:

  1. Go to the course page where you would like to add the media files and enter the Editing mode by clicking the “Turn Editing On” button.
  2. Simply drag the file on to the course page
  3. Moodle will show you the option to add the media file as a label or as a clickable file source.
  4. Selecting the Label option improves the users accessibility by displaying the media file in the media player, for students to immediately access it.
  5. Selecting the File resource option will give students a link to click on.
