Handlebar – the brand new free Moodle theme launched to impress Moodlers #Moodlethemes

Boost theme, which was released as the core theme in Moodle 3.2, has improved the overall looks and appearance of Moodle multiple folds. The new Bootstrap 4 framework based theme allowed the theme designers to create more responsive, friendly Moodle themes. There are many new free Moodle themes launched since the release of Moodle 3.2 like Fordson, Moove, Waxed etc.

Recently, another brand new theme – Handlebar is launched for Moodle designed by Richard Oelmann (also the designer of Waxed theme). Handlebar comes with many stunning features and astonishing looks. Handlebar is a child theme of boost and is based on Bootstrap 4 framework and Mustache templates.

Handlebar theme adds a lot of other features on top of the boost preset settings like:

  • Presets – presets added by ftp/ssh to the theme/scss/presets folder will be automatically added to the presets drop down, in addition to those uploaded via the user interface.
  • Colours – more brand colour pickers to fine tune the selected presets, along with the standard pre/post raw scss custom settings.
  • A course management pop-up page for staff and course info pop-up page for students.
