Testing Moodle and PHP 7

Now since PHP 7 alpha is released on 12 June 2015, so definitely Moodle has to be tested with it to review the performance and other issues.

Usman Asar, one of the most Particularly Helpful Moodler (PHM), has tested Moodle with PHP 7.0.0 alpha and mentioned a considerable improvement of up to 30% or more in memory usage and rendering time improvement with PHP 5.6.7 (zend opcache enabled in both cases). Let student’s choose booking session, assignment topic using Entry Choice feature of dataform module

Dataform module which is a major enhancement of the standard Database activity module and is meant to offer all the functionality offered by the Database module and much more in a more flexible way.

In a recent post on Moodle forums, the module maintainer Itamar Tzadok posted one great feature “Entry Choice” of the dataform module, i.e. let the students choose any of the preferred assignment from a given set or register a session for an event etc..     With the entry choice feature the teacher can allow students to choose and take ownership on predefined entries. Handling question marks in Custom Menu item links

In a recent thread on Moodle.org forums, one of the Moodler asked a question about adding a link in the custom menu. He was trying to add a link in the custom menu items field on the Theme settings page with having a question mark in between the link, due to which that particular link was opening in the same tab, whereas all other links were opening in the new tab because of the target=”_blank” attribute.
