GSOC 2015 update – Moorsp Plagiarism Plugin for Moodle by Dan Marsden and Ramindu Deshpriya

In a recent update on the GSOC-2015 projects for Moodle, Ramindu Deshapriya has submitted his work to the Project mentor Dan Marsden on Moorsp Plagiarism plugin.

The Moorsp plugin provides automated Behat and Unit tests for the core Moodle [Plagiarism_API]. Ramindu completed functions to leverage the plagiarism API and implemented behat and unit tests to cover these functions. The plugin uses the new [Event_2 Events API] instead of the older legacy log like the existing plagiarism plugins currently provide. Read More

Testing Moodle and PHP 7

Now since PHP 7 alpha is released on 12 June 2015, so definitely Moodle has to be tested with it to review the performance and other issues.

Usman Asar, one of the most Particularly Helpful Moodler (PHM), has tested Moodle with PHP 7.0.0 alpha and mentioned a considerable improvement of up to 30% or more in memory usage and rendering time improvement with PHP 5.6.7 (zend opcache enabled in both cases).
