Presentation – Learning is Not a Mechanism by Jesse Stommel

October 25th, 2015

Jesse Stommel, Assistant Professor at University of Wisconsin-Madison has shared his presentation about “Learning is not a mechanism: Assessment, Student Agency, and Digital Spaces”.

The presentations is focused on the usage of scales without any human relationship in  Student Learning in modern schooling systems. An objective and portable system for grading students was created so that systematized schooling could scale. And we’ve designed technological tools in the 20th and 21st Centuries that have allowed us to scale the learning even further. Toward mass-processing and away from subjectivity, human relationships, and care.

“We often ignore the best resource for informed change, one that is right in front of our noses every day—our students, for whom the most is at stake.” ~ Martin Bickman.

You can have a look on the presentation below or check out this link.

Believe me guys this is the must look presentation for all the teachers and make you create more human touch with your students instead of grading their each and every activity.

Thanks Jesse Stommel for sharing such a nice presentation with the Moodle Community.
