Moodle Mobile 2.8 released with Online and Offline SCORM player #MoodleMobile

January 24th, 2016

The official Moodle Mobile app has been upgraded to a new version with additional features, improvements and fixed bugs. In a recent announcement, Juan Leyva the developer of official Moodle Mobile app posted about the released of the Moodle Mobile 2.8 version with a great new feature – SCORM Player for playing SCORM 1.2 pakages online and offline.

The SCORM player is having the capability to all tracking information, including grades, when offline, and synchronizes with Moodle when you are online again. The SCORM player may be used on sites running Moodle 2.6 to Moodle 2.9 if the Moodle Mobile additional features plugin is installed.

When a user loses connectivity, offline mode is enabled automatically and all interactions that are tracked by the SCORM package are saved.  When a user is online again, the offline attempt is synchronised back to the Moodle site, either merging it with other incomplete attempts on the site or saving it as a new attempt.

Are you using custom version of the Mobile app? You can check out these articles(link1, link2) to know about the customization of the Mobile app.

  • Is it possible to use sneaker-net with the Moodle Mobile SCORM Player? That is, could the student be sent the SCORM package as a file on USB (or by email), do a quiz and then send back the results as a file? This would be for students who do not have Internet access, for example, prisoners.

    • I don’t think so that it is possible with the current version of the Moodle Mobile app.
